Communing with a Dragonfly Swarm

I was drawn to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan for the soothing waters of Temple Garden Mineral Spa and Hotel. I was drawn down a specific path at the park to avoid a wedding. But evidently there were other forces at work because I don't think random chance brought me to a gathering of thousands of dragonflies.

I stood with my mouth hanging open as I slowly began to comprehend just how may dragonflies surrounded me. They dangled like Christmas ornaments from each branch and covered every square inch of the trucks of at least three trees. And then they flew around and around.

I finally sat down and tried to take it all in. The buzz of wings was clearly audible. Occationaly one would land on me.

When I got back to the room I looked up the symbolism of dragonflies and tried to figure out what I had seen. This site helped me figure out it was a static swarm, most likely for feeding. And this page (among many others) made me realize that a little dragonfly medicine was something I needed.

And this was only the beginning of the creature encounters. Banff is the next post!
